Basis for Inspection

Like in any power plant, a solar PV plant requires the following types of maintenance

  • IEC 62446:2010 Grid connected photovoltaic systems- Minimum requirements for system documentation, Commissioning test and inspection
  • The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of above standard. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.
  • IEC 60364 (all parts), Low-voltage electrical installations
  • IEC 60364-6, Low-voltage electrical installations – Part 6: Verification
  • IEC 60364-7-712:2002, Electrical installations of buildings – Part 7-712: Requirements for special installations or locations – Solar photovoltaic (PV) power supply systems

Inspection of regular maintenance

GridLynk conducts inspections in line with the detailed test procedures and to-do lists provided in the directives for the regular maintenance of PV systems.

Identified problem analysis

Our evaluation takes into consideration the client’s description of problems and the first check of all available documents and monitoring data.


Visual inspection

GridLynk’s experts conduct a visual inspection of the PV plant to identify its status and basic issues affecting its ability to function reliably and safely.


System and component inspection

GridLynk offers inspections for a wide range of PV systems, including roof-mounted systems (medium sized systems for residential and industrial roofs) and large ground-mounted systems.We also offer detailed measurements of component parameters.

Definition of improvement measures

We provide a proposal for detailed improvement measures according to the identified technical and organisational problems.


How We Do It

GridLynk will inspect Power plant for its functionality and the plant performance shall be checked. Special attention will be given to the actual installed power and system efficiency. These measurements help to detect installation problems, which can cause electrical hazard. Measurements at generator units will be conducted, compared and checked regarding plausibility to investigate the proper function of the generator.

  • Random Visual Inspection of the plant – Inspection of structure, connections, JBs etc.
  • The short circuit current and open circuit voltage will be measured at selected module strings.
  • GridLynk will determine the actual installed power, the current -voltage-curves (IV – curves) by actual measurements on randomly selected module strings.
  • GridLynk shall conduct infrared scans on selected PV Modules, connection boxes and all inverter units which help in detecting contact problems, hot spots or overheating and other fire causing hazards.
  • Dependent of the material of the module construction, the corrosion protection of the material will be investigated.
  • After successful completion of inspection and corrective action, GridLynk will issue an In-Service Inspection Report.
